Exclusive: Republican Sen. Ron Johnson is questioning how “disconnected” President Biden is from “his own administration” after the White House said he was not given “notice” of an FBI raid on former President Trump’s home in Mar-a-Lago.

The FBI raided Trump’s private residence in Palm Beach, Florida on Monday morning while the former president was in New York City. The raid is connected to an investigation into classified documents that Trump allegedly took home from the White House when he left office in January 2021.

Asked for comment Monday, a White House official told Fox News Digital: “We are not aware of the reported action and will refer you to the Department of Justice for any additional information.”

A source told Fox News that FBI Director Christopher Wray and Attorney General Merrick Garland were aware of and fully briefed on the attack, per standard protocol.

Johnson, R-Wis., has overseen the FBI throughout his time in the Senate, slamming the raids and the U.S. justice system while questioning whether the White House is being truthful.

“Our two-tiered justice system is becoming more blatant and rampant,” Johnson told Fox News Digital. “The White House claims it had no knowledge of the Mar-a-Lago attack, which raises even more questions.”

“Are they lying to us (again) or have the FBI and DOJ become biased rogue agencies?” Johnson asked. “At the very least, President Biden should be aware of the unprecedented FBI raid on a former president.”

He said: “Is he really separated from his own administration?”

The White House had no further comment on Tuesday, citing Fox News Digital as the original statement that they had “no notice” of the attack.

Trump says Mar-a-Lago home in Florida ‘under siege’ by FBI agents

An FBI source confirmed that the raid was carried out by FBI agents in Washington, DC, who were part of the bureau’s Evidence Response Team, and that the Miami field office had been notified shortly before.

Agents brought a “safe cracker” and broke into a “relatively new” safe at Mar-a-Lago, a source familiar with the matter told Fox News. “There’s nothing to it,” a source told Fox News.

FBI agents went to Mar-a-Lago and looked into every office and safe, and grabbed documents and boxes without going on the property, a familiar source told Fox News. Then he took boxes and documents to go through them.

“They weren’t fair about what they took,” the source told Fox News.

Trump made the attack public on Monday evening, saying in a lengthy statement that “nothing like this has ever happened to the President of the United States of America.”

“After working and cooperating with relevant government agencies, this unannounced attack on my home was neither necessary nor appropriate,” Trump said. “It’s the prosecutorial misconduct, the weaponization of the justice system, and the attacks by radical left Democrats that I desperately don’t want to run for president in 2024, especially based on recent elections, and they’ll do anything to stop Republicans. Conservatives in the upcoming midterm elections.”

“This kind of aggression can only happen in broken, third-world countries. Sadly, America is now one of those countries, corrupt on an unprecedented level,” Trump said.

“What’s the difference between this and Watergate, where activists broke into the Democratic National Committee?” He continued. “Here, by contrast, Democrats stormed the home of the 45th president of the United States.”
